Re: Stiehr Mockers Release Candidates

That did the trick. I used Audacity because I already had it. It took a bit of trial and error but I got it amplified to be in line with the adjacent notes. One thing that probably made it noticable is there is a shift in the voicing from G to G#. It sounds to me like slightly less bright harmonics....

Re: Stiehr Mockers Release Candidates

Thanks, Graham! That seems very straightforward. I will give it a try later this evening. I might as well learn how to do these things.

Re: Stiehr Mockers Release Candidates

I've enjoyed playing this release. I'm not that familiar with the earlier versions, so I can't really comment on the improvements. One thing, though, that caught my notice. The first G# above the treble staff on the Swell 8' Hautbois is much quieter than the other notes. A above that is slightly qui...

mp3 of Melita and a variation

I finally got around to recording a setting of Melita followed by a short ricecar-like mediation on the hymn tune I wrote late last year when I first discovered virtual organs. It is played on the extended Stiehr-Mocker, fairly light registration, with a slight bit of reverb through the stock specia...

Re: Advice on activating stops and pistons from console

That new MIDIbox Core sounds interesting. I saw reference to it on the Midibox site, but I didn't really understand the significance of it at the time. But, 3 months ago I had never even heard of a PIC nor was I aware of MIDI codes. And now you have me thinking of building internal computers! :) BTW...

Re: Advice on activating stops and pistons from console

Hi there, It sounds like your MIDI interface is picking up interferance from somewhere. You mention that you've used the MIDIbox boards to MIDIfy your console, what is your MIDI connection between the computer and the Core boards? I have not experienced this behavior on my setup, but I (currenty) u...

Re: Advice on activating stops and pistons from console

Thanks, Graham. That sheds even a bit more light on the subject. After looking over the organ definition file, I think I'm going to try to add expression to the Great as well. I was playing through (badly) a Franck Chorale last night and was amazed at the 8 foot sounds I was getting on the Great. Th...

Re: Advice on activating stops and pistons from console

OK, I found the info I needed by looking hard at the *.organ file. Pistons work fine, and I see that I need to use note values in an unused channel to get the stops to work. I have to thank Jean-Paul Verpeaux for writing up the tutorial I saw on the Magel forum: http://www.magle.dk/music-forums/4771...

Advice on activating stops and pistons from console

I've taken a Baldwin Cinema II console and turned it into a MIDI instrument. I have been using it to play through MyOrgan, jOrgan, and Miditzer. So far I've been able to have the 52 tabs on the console control stops in jOrgan and Miditzer, but I just can't figure out how to do it with MyOrgan/Grand ...
